Why
The end product of purine and fructose metabolism; it not only causes gout but independently flags hypertension, kidney damage and metabolic syndrome. Fructose (sugary drinks) is its strongest dietary driver — not meat.

Yearly; more often with gout or kidney disease.

Cutting sugary drinks and beer, weight loss, dairy and coffee (lower it), vitamin C 500 mg (–0.3), allopurinol.
