A trace element, a presumed insulin-signalling cofactor; deficiency practically never occurs in humans.
What the evidence shows
Cochrane-level meta-analyses: HbA1c –0.3% in diabetics, nothing in healthy people; 0.5 kg for weight loss. EFSA removed it from essential nutrients in 2014.
